SUMMARY:Conference 'Which priorities for a European policy on multimorbidity?'
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_image src=”https://prescribeddrug.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/FotoJet-Collage.jpg” image_width=”600″ image_height=”470″ crop=”true” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” target=”_self” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″][mk_padding_divider size=”40″][vc_column_text]Testimonials from multimorbid patients across Europe\, gathered by the European Patients’ Forum: \nAmanda Roberts\, United Kingdom \nCees Smit\, The Netherlands \nNina Baláčková\, Czech Republic \nWolfram Nolte\, Germany \nOana Maria Dan\, Romania \nMultimorbidity\, usually defined as the co-occurrence of two or more chronic conditions in one person\, has become the norm rather than the exception in primary care patients and is set to become more prevalent as our populations age. Multimorbidity is therefore a growing concern in our society and a challenge facing patients\, health professionals and health systems’ sustainability. \nUsing interactive formats\, this conference will provide a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals\, researchers\, policy-makers\, professionals from the pharmaceutical and ICT industry\, insurers and patient representatives to share experiences and existing knowledge on multimorbidity from regional models of care to research and decision-making tools. Building upon success stories and innovative practices\, participants will learn about the evidence base to support a change of mind-set from disease-oriented management to patient-oriented care. Participants will also be invited to reflect on how to overcome the barriers to achieve a common framework to work on multimorbidity. \nThe ‘Which priorities for a European policy on multimorbidity?’ conference is an invitation to everyone interested in management of patients with multiple illnesses to come together to: \n\nRaise awareness on the relevance and urgency to deal with multimorbidity\nShare experiences and practices in the management of multimorbidity\nLearn from innovative healthcare approaches\nExplore together how to address the barriers to address a common framework on multimorbidity\nCreate a common engagement across stakeholders to start addressing the issue at European level\n\nRegister here. \nMore information: here \nConference booklet[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:18th European Health Forum Gastein
DESCRIPTION:JA-CHRODIS was present at the 18th European Health Forum Gastein\, a three-day event held on 30 September to 2 October 2015 in Austria. The Forum is one of the most important health-related event in the European Union and a meeting point for experts from different fields within the health system. Co-leader of the multimorbidity work\, Rokas Navickas contributed to the session Facing Multimorbidity: Challenges and Responses on Day 2\, sharing essential facts and key trends of co-morbidity across Europe. Even though the consequences of multimorbidity are huge\, they have not been researched to a great extent and the tendency to exclude multimorbid patients from general clinical trials research is preventing to collect good data on them. \nClick to access Rokas Navickas’ presentation and press coverage of his session (Euractiv). SUMMARY:European Summit on Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing
DESCRIPTION:The Summit on Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing aims to engage Europe’s policy\, services and market leaders to co-create a shared vision on how Europe can address the challenges and seize the opportunities arising from demographic change through ICT and innovation and in that way contribute to economic recovery. \nCentral topic: how can technology\, innovation and new ways of cooperation help Europe to turn this major challenge into an opportunity? Live demonstrations\, sand pits and an interactive exhibition will show in action what is being discussed and highlighted in thematic debates and knowledge-sharing sessions. A wide variety of meetings and side-events with one goal: to turn the opportunities of demographic ageing into growth and jobs for Europe. Several European Commissioners\, national ministers\, regional authorities and leaders from industry\, including SMEs and startups\, as well as civil society will take the floor and lead the debates. \nThe EU population is changing dramatically because of a higher life expectancy and a lower fertility: longer lives and fewer newborns. The number of European citizens over 80 will double by 2025 while the labour market is shrinking. Demographic change constitutes a colossal societal challenge and affects everyone. The ageing of our population can undermine the foundations of Europe’s health and social care systems. Our labour markets\, workforce and overall our cohesion as a society is at risk as the ratio of active vs. inactive people is shifting dramatically. \nBut demographic change also offers new opportunities for innovation\, growth and societal transformation that can benefit many millions. In our fast-paced and interconnected world\, driven by breakthrough technologies\, the right innovations for active and healthy ageing can help our citizens stay active and independent for more years\, while savings costs for governments and creating profits for businesses. A Digital Single Market can support a fairer\, more sustainable and prosperous society and the opportunities offered by the Silver Economy are immense. \nClick here to access the presentations and find out about the conclusions.
